March 2016 Flight from Paris to La Réunion then a second flight over Madagascar to Mayotte
| Mayotte airport |
Airport on Petite Terre where Margot met us. Lots of heat, colourful clothes and painted faces; all very different to our life back in Europe.
Margot presented us with traditional garlands made by local women who were seated in chattering groups outside the airport.
Cold drinks were very welcome before transportation to the ferry which would take us across to the capital Mamoudzu on the main island.
Everything was new and intriguing and my eyes were everywhere like the first day in any new country.
After the ferry Margot drove us along the back roads of Mamoudzu then followed the main road south to her home in Boueni.
Fresh bananas every morning on the terrace.
... and breadfruit later, cooked outside in the traditional way by the friendly neighbour.
All sorts of tropical fruit growing everywhere.
