March 2013 through the snow in Belgium and on to Amsterdam
Managed to battle through the snow in Belgium, fortified by horse-meat sausages and chips in a friendly local café.
Happy to find blue skies at the campsite (link/lien) near Amsterdam.
Cycled to the metro station at Amstelveen each day and from there to Amsterdam central station.
And what a magnificent station it is.
Cheese shops everywhere of course.
Rembrandtplein
The Nieuwmarkt area.
Quiet canals
..and the famous red-light district
Very different - the tranquil Begignof
Raw herring with sweet pickles - a popular local snack.
The Bazar is a very popular place to eat and drink when you visit the street market.
One of the many famous "coffee shops"
A favourite place for a drink or a snack near the house of Anne Frank.
The Heineken centre is a really good place to visit; the old brewing hall is magnificent.
See you again soon Amsterdam.
