27th July, down through the centre of France on the N.7 into Isere. The next day we crossed into Italy via the Frejus tunnel and decided to leave the autostrada immediately and follow the old Via Roma. This brought us, by good fortune, to the charming village of Exilles in the Piemonte region.
27 Juillet à travers le centre de la France sur la N.7 en Isère. Le lendemain, nous avons traversé en Italie par le tunnel du Fréjus et décidé de quitter l'autoroute immédiatement et suivre l'ancienne Via Roma. Cela nous a, par bonheur, le charmant village de Exilles dans la région du Piémont.

Explored some of the hiking trails in the area before taking the road down through Susa to join the autostrada past Turin and Milan towards the lakes.
Exploré certains des sentiers de randonnée dans la région avant de prendre la route à travers Suse pour rejoindre l'autoroute passé Turin et Milan vers les lacs.

Nous avons décidé de laissez le camping-car à Vicenza et prendre le train à Venise le lendemain matin; ce fut une excellente décision, car les trains sont vraiment pas cher en Italie et nous éviter les tracas de la conduite et de stationnement à Venise.

I can't imagine any railway station in the World with a more impressive view. Spread out in front of you as you exit the building you are immediately faced with the busy life of the Grand Canal in the heart of the historic city.
Je ne peux pas imaginer une gare dans le monde avec une vue plus impressionnant. Etalez en face de vous que vous sortez de la gare, vous êtes immédiatement confronté à la vie trépidante du Grand Canal au coeur de la ville historique.

Back to Vicenza to pick up our bikes at the station and to explore the old centre before our usual pasta-fest in the camper.
Headed off the next morning past Verona, Lake Garda and Brescia to arrive at the very beautiful Lake Iseo.
Retour a Vicenza pour reprendre nos vélos à la gare et à la découverte de la vieille ville avant nos pâtes-fest d'habitude dans le camping-car.
Dirigée le lendemain matin passé Vérone, Lac de Garde et Brescia pour arriver au très beau lac d'Iseo.
Took the boat to the main island on the lake.
Nous avons pris le bateau pour l'île principale sur le lac.
Monte Isola which presented quite a challenge to reach the little church perched on the summit.
Monte Isola qui a présenté tout un défi pour atteindre la petite église perchée sur le sommet.
Spent two nights here then took the road past Bergamo to Lecco on lake Como which was full of Italian holidaymakers so we continued westwards stopping overnight in the lakeside village of Pusiano where the local bar offered enormous aperitifs and free slices of smoked sausage on bread.
Nous avons passé deux nuits ici a ensuite pris la route de Bergame à Lecco passé sur le lac de Côme, qui était plein de vacanciers italiens donc nous avons continué vers l'ouest d'arrêt durant la nuit dans le village au bord du lac de Pusiano où le bar local a offert d'énormes apéritifs et les tranches libres de saucisse fumée sur pain.
On then the next morning to Laveno on
Lake Maggiore.
Puis continuer le lendemain matin à Laveno sur le lac Majeur.
Passed a peaceful night in the car park of the Lido at Monvalle on the shore of Maggiore.
Passé une nuit paisible dans le parking du Lido à Monvalle sur la rive du Majeur.
Time to return to Piemonte - South on the autostrada then West past Torino and back onto the smaller roads to begin the climb up the valley to Susa.
Il est temps de revenir à Piemonte - sud sur l'autoroute alors ouest passé Torino et de nouveau sur les petites routes pour commencer l'ascension de la vallée de Suse.
Susa has the atmosphere of a frontier town with lots of campers in the free park, some recently arrived from France, others heading for the border.
Suse a l'atmosphère d'une ville frontalière avec beaucoup de camping-cars sur le parking libre, certains récemment arrivé de France, d'autres en direction de la frontière.

We were very happy to return to Exilles in time to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary in the active little village restaurant, "La Quadriglia".
Nous avons été très heureux de revenir à Exilles à temps pour célébrer notre 6ème anniversaire de mariage dans l'actif petit restaurant de village, "La Quadriglia".
Made an expedition up the other side of the valley to the village of Cels which is like a glimpse into the Middle Ages.
